The Tilbury Band is an Essex-based community brass band, located in the town of Tilbury, near to the A13 and M25.
The Band was founded in 1919 by a local branch of the National Union of Railwaymen as The Tilbury Railwaymen’s Band, but quickly rebranded as The Tilbury Town Band owing to interest from members of the local community. The Band has been part of the life of Tilbury from before much of the present town was built, and can often be seen performing in the local and wider community. A second section band nationally, the Band regularly takes part in contests and contests both near and far.
The Band rehearses on a Wednesday evening in our purpose-built Band Room on Dock Road, Tilbury, from 8pm to 10pm, with additional contest rehearsals taking place on Sundays form 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Our training band, The Tilbury Brass Academy rehearses from 5pm to 7pm each Sunday of Term Time.§
